Martin Haus & Benjamin Scholz

In 2015, Martin Haus and Benjamin Scholz founded a small NGO registered in Germany to work with deprived communities in India. Throughout the years, they focussed more on the right to free and quality public education. Instead of traditional charity with the risk of Indian dependency on Western donors, they try to take an equity and rights-based approach: Partnering with civil society organizations in India to foster and support localized, systemic, sustainable and holistic reform efforts. Their vision is to improve government schools as the only sustainable way to end segregation and empower children from all strata of Indian society.

Both speakers know each other from a one-year voluntary service in Delhi in 2012 and 2013. Martin Haus holds a BA in Transnational Social Work from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and just finished his MSc at the London School of Economics (LSE) in the UK. Benjamin Scholz holds a law degree from German Münster University and currently interns at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights in Vienna.
